February 2022 From the Pastor's Desk

From the Pastor…

Welcome to February! It seems like January lasted for six months! We have had some crazy weekend weather that really affected our services... There was also the anticipation of waiting until the 31st to close on the Roberdel School property. The good news is that God has delivered on the vision He has given us for obtaining that property, and all of the funds used for the purchase were donated specifically for that cause! To those who contributed: Thank you so much for your generosity!

Now we are at the beginning of sorts. We will now have inspections and meetings with contractors to find out what needs to be done and how much that will cost. The good news is that our Heavenly Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He is a good Father and He will provide whatever is needed for us to fulfill our calling regarding this newly acquired property.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have been limited in our meeting opportunities and that has limited our in-person meetings. My prayer is that we will soon be past the peak of infections for the current variant and we will be able to begin having more face-to-face business meetings and other group gatherings. We will certainly plan on gathering when we have more information on what can be done to the newly acquired school property because our preschool is in desperate need of more classroom space. I am also excited about possible ways our church can utilize this property for other purposes.

Another gathering that I am looking forward to is the beginning of our Cancer Care Ministry. This support group will be for patients, survivors, family members, and anyone who has been touched by cancer. Kathy Avant and I recently completed training and we will be planning training sessions for others who are volunteering to lead this ministry. Kathy and I were impressed with the ministry and the possibilities for our church and community. If you are interested in helping lead this ministry, please let Kathy or me know. I hope to be able to provide some meeting dates in the next couple of months.

February is also the month of love. I would encourage each of us to do everything in our power to shower one another with love this month. Perhaps there is a family or a person whom God has laid on your heart. This month is a great time to show them some extra love. Remember that Jesus said that while the greatest commandment is to love God with all of our being, the second is like it - to love our neighbors as ourselves. What can you do this month to show someone the love that will remind them of God’s love for us all?

Let me also remind you that our 24 hour prayer vigil is the first Thursday of each month. If you have not been assigned a time slot, please speak to Lisa Talley and ask her to help you get signed up. I am hearing wonderful reports from so many people about how their one hour of prayer that day is blessing them and rejuvenating their prayer lives. If you haven’t been taking part in this ministry, I challenge you to try it once and see if it is not something you will want to do much more often!

Love in Christ,

Pastor Billy
