From the Pastor…
God is doing some wonderful things at Roberdel these days! We are seeing improved attendance for all of our services and activities but most importantly, we are seeing new faces and people are getting right with the Lord. I am highly encouraged by all that God is doing at RBC. Life has changed a great deal since we began dealing with a world-wide pandemic. Many friends and loved ones succumbed to the virus and fear still grips many people when they think about the virus. I would not dare to minimize the threat of this – or any disease. However, I am grateful that God has kept us very safe at RBC. We have not had an outbreak that we can trace back to our services or on-site activities. This is such a blessing, considering the numbers of people who occupy our facilities every day! I am praying that God will help us to see the importance of quality time together as a church family – without fear or hesitation.
Opportunities for us to do just that are ahead throughout the month of April. Aside from our regularly scheduled services and meetings, we continue to spend 24 hours of prayer, feed the less fortunate at the local soup kitchen, and gather as missions groups and other affinity groups that love and serve Christ.
On April 3, we will once again host local Law Enforcement for breakfast at 7 am. Everyone is invited to come early to help cook and serve. Let us show these local heroes that we appreciate what they do to keep us safe.
On Saturday, the 8th, we will host another “Cars and Coffee,” followed by our “Spring Fling” activities for families. Everyone is welcome to bring a classic, cool, or unusual auto to display and help us reach our community with these events that day.
Sunday, April 9 is Easter Sunday – the day we celebrate the greatest victory and foundation of our faith. We will begin with a Sunrise Service here at the church at 6:30 am. We will have breakfast following the service, and our regular Sunday School and worship times will be the same as usual. The following Sunday, April 16 is “Fill the Tank” Sunday. We will observe the ordinance of baptism that day!
There will be a blood drive at the church on Easter Monday from 2-7 pm. Speak to Linda McKenzie for more information. Thanks to Linda and all of her faithful helpers for their leadership with this lifesaving event!
Our Senior Adults will travel to Myrtle Beach for great music and worship at the Springtime Jubilee April 17-19. And we will close out the month with the Pee Dee Baptist Bible Conference April 28-29 at Stewartsville Baptist Church.
Whew.. That is a lot! The good news is that everything we have planned has an eternal purpose. We do not choose to copy what other churches are doing, but we follow God’s direction for our church. We do not seek to be popular or competitive with others, but obedient to God’s calling on us as a Great Commission body of believers. Let us be faithful in following our Lord and serving Him this month!
I look forward to seeing you in your place in your church this month.
In Christian Love,
Pastor Billy
