From the Pastor…
Happy New Year! I know that most of us are happy to be finished with 2021, but we can also be thankful that we lived to see another year. While the world continues to deal with the newest variant of COVID, the church of Jesus Christ continues to proclaim the good news. As we ponder new and innovative ways to reach the lost, I would submit to you that methods of reaching the lost are not as important as the message we share to a lost world.
We will continue to do what we can to keep everyone safe at Roberdel. But we will also do everything we can to be about the Father’s business. It is heartbreaking to see friends and family battle this virus, but it is even more heartbreaking to see lost souls step into eternity without a relationship with Jesus Christ! We must do all we can to make a difference in our world – even when many leaders are using fear to prevent us from ministry and proclamation of the gospel.
I am particularly excited that my burden for initiating a Cancer Care ministry is closer to reality. Kathy Avant and I will be participating in training for this ministry during the first week in January. We will soon after be leading training for several of our members who have volunteered to help lead this ministry. Please make this ministry a priority in prayer. It will be for survivors, family members of anyone who has been touched by cancer, and those actively fighting any type of cancer. More information on this important ministry will be coming soon.
Another ministry that is gaining momentum is our monthly prayer ministry. After 2 months of this 24 hour prayer vigil, there are more local churches that have signed on to take a day of the month and the testimonies of those who have participated are extremely positive and inspiring. If you have not agreed to be a part of this, see Lisa Talley and she will gladly help you find an hour that suits your schedule! Our chosen day is the first Thursday of the month, beginning at midnight.
On January 31, we are scheduled to close on the Roberdel School purchase. This is just another step to increase our ministry in the community. We are truly grateful for the donations that will make this purchase possible. However, there will be many more expenses to bring the building up to code so we can use it for Preschool. Along with remodeling, there will be a need for many purchases to furnish the building as well. Please be in prayer for these needs and consider what God would have you do to be a part of making this a reality.
Finally, Sandy and I want to thank you for your kindness and acts of love during the illness and passing of my mother. It has been very hard but you all have made it easier to bear. We truly appreciate everything you have done for us. Your gifts and cards helped make our Christmas brighter.
Let’s make 2022 a year of obedience to ministry and proclamation of the gospel as God provides the opportunities for us to make a difference in our community and our world!
In Christian Love,
Billy Dennis
