From the Pastor…

Pastor Billy Dennis

What a wonderful, busy month we just celebrated! First of all, thank you for the nice card and dinner that you surprised us with on the anniversary of our coming here. Also to those who remembered us with cards, gifts, and kind words: Sandy and I wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous expressions of love.

Holy Week was such a blessing! Our Maundy Thursday service this year was especially meaningful as we remembered… Cars and Coffee and Spring Fling were both very successful events for showing our community that we care. These events were also great fellowship and service opportunities. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events happen. Then on Easter morning, we had a well-attended, spirit-filled Sunrise Service as we worshiped with our brothers and sisters at the Methodist Church. Our Easter Service at Roberdel was the awesome capstone of a wonderful week!

During our Easter service, we were blessed with the opportunity to honor Mr. Fred Hudson with the title of Deacon Emeritus. Fred has not only been a faithful member of Roberdel for many years, but has served our Lord, His church, and the community faithfully during those years. While the position of Deacon Emeritus provides the honoree with the opportunity to be an advisor of sorts, with lifetime rights to attend meetings and share his wisdom, it is primarily a recognition of the godly character of one who has faithfully served through the ups and downs of life. Not only does Fred’s service as deacon qualify him for this honor, but his service as long-time music director makes him uniquely qualified for this honor. Thank you, Fred, for your dedication and example as you have shared your talents and your life with us for all these years!

While we look forward to May, we have another busy month ahead! In just one weekend, we will have our annual Missions Fundraiser, host the Baptist Men’s Dental Bus, and have a Sunday Morning Concert with Mountain Fever recording artist, Dave Adkins! We will also observe the National Day of Prayer, host a Women’s Conference, honor all Mothers on Mother’s Day, and enjoy a Memorial Day Cookout, along with many other special events and our regular services and activities! Please help us spread the word about these opportunities, and find your place of service in what God is doing here at Roberdel. If we don’t utilize these opportunities to spread the gospel and minister to our community, then we are just hopelessly busy.

In Christian Love,

Pastor Billy
